Classroom Policies and Procedures
Homework
Please know that your child will receive monthly homework calendars (along with corresponding work packet) in their blue “take home” folders. Each day (Monday-Thursday) there will be one or two assignments for students to complete. Some assignments are written while others are activities for your child to do orally or with materials at home. All written assignments have a page in the packet for your child to complete the work. Please try to return the folder every Friday so I can check the week’s work, and your child can earn 3 more stickers for their sticker chart. I will send the folders home again the following Monday.
In addition, students should read or listen to an adult read at least one book every day. Please write down the books that you read with your child on the monthly book list. This book list will be part of our classroom reading program, and students who return this list will receive more stickers for their chart. If you read a book more than one time, please write a number next to the title so that I can count each time you read it.

Behavior Policy
In our classroom, we follow 5 basic rules.
1. Listen when the teacher is talking.
2. Follow directions.
3. Be respectful, responsible, and safe.
4. Raise your hand to talk.
5. Always do your best.
Our class is based around our sticker wall. Each child has a chart and can earn stickers at the end of the day. The amount of stickers they earn depends on their behavior, which is tracked on the clip chart on the left side of our room. Once a student gets to 10 stickers, they may choose a prize/treat from our treasure box! Students can also earn stickers for returned reading logs, homework, and other academic achievements.

Toys
Toys are fine to bring, but need to be shared and stay in my desk until free choice. Please do not bring anything that breaks easily or uses batteries. If this rule becomes a problem, then the privilege will be taken away.
Special Events
Information on special events will be sent home always at least two weeks in advance. You can find information on some of these events on the school calendar, located in one of the links above. We always welcome volunteers for our classroom parties!
Birthdays
You are free to bring treats, as it is a time to celebrate! Please try to keep your treats nut-free. We currently have a class of 16 students. Also, we are a latex free school, so some types of balloons are not allowed.
Milk snacks
We will be having afternoon milk snack. The charge is $0.40 and is not covered by the free lunch program.
